Just make sure that you make a hole in the front cap that is just big enough to fit the switch. I used some hot glue to hold the switch in place, but the result isn't quite as professional as I thought it would By adding a DIP-switch, you can play with the other colors as well. I had an DIP-switch laying around and used it on the red and blue pin.
The 3 colors that came out were red - blue - pink ish. So, we've started with a not-working Xyloband, we've openend it up and soldered some extra wires to end with a functional Xyloband. Question 3 years ago on Step 4. Hi, Can you please let know the quality of the leds used in the strip. Are those of the conventional type we get in market or they are special which makes it able to be seen from a long distance. Answer 3 years ago. Hi, I didn't make the Xyloband, only got it after visiting a Coldplay concert.
Introduction: Hack Your Xyloband! By Jens De Sneyder Follow. More by the author:. More About Jens De Sneyder ». Before you take out the four screws, take out the two AAAA batteries out of their case. Last year, Coldplay came to Chile for the first time since almost 10 years! At the entrance of the Stadium, they were giving a wristband called Xyloband.
So, the question is how to turn on the LEDs? Now comes the fun part. Remove the 4 screws, and open the lid carefully watching how everything holds up together. Remove the LED arrangement by releasing the connector as shown in the picture.
Now we can access the board. Also solder one to the middle big chunk of solder in the board this is where we will power the LEDs Since the TP points are very small contact points, I reccomend to first put some solder paste, then melt some solder on every point, clean the solder paste and then, melting the solder blob on the board, put the cables in place.
This way we can make sure that everything is connected the way we want. Also, I want to do… the optional stuff :P Code Here. Also, you can add a button so you can change the colour routine that your band will do.
